Aside from being a passionate user centered designer, I'm a huge fan of David Bowie, competitive Mahjong and Backgammon, cosplaying, and bird spotting; although I've yet to accomplish my goal of seeing a Belted Kingfisher (funky fellas, they are).
In my free time I enjoy catching up with friends, working on my manga, or listening to one of my past monthly playlists (I've been at it for 58 months as of March, 2024).
I am currently looking for design roles in healthcare and education.
Thanks for visiting my portfolio!
I'm John, an Egyptian-American Product Designer looking to get back to the NYC area.
I studied Psychology and Cognitive Sciences at Rutgers University and designed an all in one application for Bayonne Pharmacy, built user trust at the emerging startup HealCoRx, and worked with cross functional teams to build out workflows for case managers, behavioral health technicians, nurses, and therapists in the US and abroad while at Epic Systems. Wherever I go, I’m always striving to produce inclusive experiences that put a smile on peoples' faces or at least makes their lives easier.
While at Rutgers, I volunteered as a research assistant at the SECD (Social-Emotional Character Development) lab, where I worked on projects aimed to amplify and encourage youth voice in today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders. Alongside my fellow labmates, we published an article in the journal, El Communique, on the impact of COVID-19 on education and how to implement social media as a tool in the classroom.
